What this is
hbar.university is a research project reconstructing what learning looks like when you strip out credentials, instructors, and the textbook metaphor.
Most of the course content here was drafted by language models working against detailed specifications. That is honest about what it is: a structural skeleton, pedagogically coherent, factually plausible, but not yet calibrated by someone who works in the field.
That is the gap this page exists to close.
Contributor-in-residence
We are looking for working domain experts to read a full course end-to-end, flag factual or pedagogical errors, and (if the course as a whole has serious problems) help rewrite.
Domains currently open:
- — biological systems
- — economics
- — internet systems
- — ai systems
Other domains (systems thinking, game theory, statistics, math intuition, quantum foundations, variational quantum algorithms, music theory, linear algebra) are open for corrections but are not actively seeking a full review.
What we offer
The exchange is not monetary. A contributor-in-residence who completes a full course review receives:
- — a named brain instance on the BrainFoundry network (a sovereign intelligence node; see hbar.systems)
- — attribution in the Contributors section of hbar.university, and on every lesson node you helped calibrate
- — a permanent node in the knowledge graph attributed to you
- — a standing seat in conversations about what the university becomes next
This is a participation model, not a labor model. You are not a freelancer; you are a co-builder.
Selectivity
Not every inquiry becomes a seat. We are looking for working competence, not credentials. A graduate student who has taught the material is stronger than a senior professor who has not read a textbook in a decade. A practitioner with ten years of applied work is stronger than either.
We will tell you if the fit is not right. This is not a judgment about you — it is a judgment about whether this specific exchange makes sense for both sides.
How to express interest
Write to hello@hbar.systems with the subject line contribute: [domain] (for example, contribute: biological systems).
In the body, tell us briefly:
- — what you work on, in your own words
- — where you would push back on the existing course content, after a quick skim
- — roughly how much time you can give (no expectation — we want to know what is real for you)
Corrections
If you are not seeking a contributor-in-residence seat but have found an error — factual, pedagogical, or technical — write to hello@hbar.systems with subject line correction: hbar.university, including the page URL.
Small corrections are credited in the Contributors section. Larger sustained patterns of corrections become contributor-in-residence offers.
A note on the frame
The longer-term intent is that many research projects in the hbar.* constellation exchange intelligence for intelligence — a commons, not a payroll. This page is the first operational instance of that frame. We are starting specific and bounded. If it works, we will write more about what it becomes.
